Chambered and tuned for .38 Special Mid-Range wadcutters only, the barrel hood is factory-marked ".38 SPECIAL MID-RANGE" to denote flush-seated full wadcutter use. The 52-1 variant features dedicated single-action-only lockwork for a consistent trigger pull tailored to precision target work.
The 5 inch match-grade barrel is paired with adjustable target sights: a serrated ramp front sight and a fully adjustable micrometer rear sight. The slide has a matte anti-glare top surface to reduce reflections and aid sight focus.
Construction is all steel with a blued finish on both frame and slide. Checkered walnut grip panels with S&W medallions provide a secure hold, complemented by a grooved front of the trigger guard and vertical rear-strap serrations. A slide-mounted thumb safety is included.
Dimensions and handling details include an approximate overall length of 8.55 inches, an unloaded weight of about 40 oz, and a 5+1 capacity using its five-round single-stack magazine. Two 5-round magazines are included.
Factory markings include "PAT'S PENDING" on the right slide and the S&W crest on the right side of the frame. Non-factory hand-engraved markings are present near the right muzzle reading "Polic... PR" and under the front of the trigger guard reading "PPR."
