Built in New Haven, Connecticut, this Model 70 Westerner is a push-feed variant with a plunger ejector and small rotating extractor. The barrel is Winchester Proof Steel, 22 inches in length, and marked "WINCHESTER MODEL 70 WESTERNER - .243 WIN - MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL." The receiver bears the "WINCHESTER TRADE MARK" marking and is drilled and tapped for optics.

The rifle includes a jeweled bolt body with a polished bolt knob and the Model 70 three-position safety. It feeds from an internal box magazine with a 5-round capacity, allowing 5+1 possible. A G-prefix serial is observed, consistent with early-1980s production, and the Westerner trim itself was a short-run series produced circa 1982–1985.

Stocked in walnut, the rifle features a pistol-grip profile with checkering, a fitted recoil pad, and a front sling swivel stud. The metal wears a blued finish with a satin blue receiver. A ramped front sight is present, offering a classic field-ready sighting option alongside the mounted optic. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.

Weaver K4 60B Scope Installed. The period-correct Weaver K4 60B fixed 4x scope has a fine crosshair reticle and a 1-inch steel tube marked El Paso, Texas, USA. It is mounted on Redfield bases with Redfield rings, providing a solid, proven combination for this rifle.
