Built on a dimpled stamped AK-pattern receiver with riveted trunnions, this ROMAK 2 follows the AK-74 platform and is chambered in 5.45x39mm. It uses a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt. Selector markings are "S" and "C," with a partial serial electro-penciled on the selector lever. Import marks read "RATMIL/CUGIR • MADE IN ROMANIA • D.I.G., Va. Bch., Va."
The rifle presents ban-era import configuration details, including a plain muzzle cap/thread protector installed (threading not confirmed) and no left-side optics rail. It has a 45-degree gas block and the cleaning rod is present. The rifle accepts detachable AK-74 pattern magazines; capacity is 30+1 with standard 30-round magazines.
Furniture has been updated with US-made black polymer components, including ribbed handguards and a buttstock. The stock features a ribbed steel buttplate with trapdoor and a right-side sling swivel, and the length of pull measures 12.75 inches. A black polymer pistol grip is installed.
The trigger has been upgraded, and the original hammer, disconnector, and axis spring are included. Sighting is via iron sights: a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight leaf graduated to 1000 meters with a "P" battle setting. The model is marked "ROMAK 2" and "5,45×39," and the serial suffix "-97" indicates 1997 manufacture.
