The MDRX FE uses a forward-eject chute that directs spent cases away from the shooter while preserving a compact profile. Its bullpup architecture places the action behind the trigger, delivering a full-length 16-inch barrel in a shorter overall package. The rifle accepts STANAG/AR-15 pattern magazines for broad magazine compatibility.
A short-stroke gas piston drives the semi-automatic action, and the adjustable gas regulation lets the user tune operation. The barrel is threaded, and the platform is built around a multi-caliber architecture for caliber flexibility within the MDRX system.
Controls are set up for both left- and right-handed users. It includes an ambidextrous, non-reciprocating, forward-located charging handle and an ambidextrous safety selector. The rifle is topped by a full-length MIL-STD-1913/Picatinny rail and includes flip-up front and rear iron sights.
Construction features include an aluminum receiver mated to a polymer chassis with a slotted polymer handguard. The stock area incorporates a textured buttpad and a QD sling cup. Length of pull is 15.0 inches. Manufacturer markings note Desert Tech LLC, West Valley City, UT, USA.
