This Finnish-made Sako L469 Heavy Barrel in .222 Remington Magnum is a transitional small-action varmint configuration produced for a short period before the L461 Vixen. It stands out with a custom relief-carved, light-toned Monte Carlo stock and a 24-inch heavy barrel without iron sights. The rifle comes with a gloss-finish Leupold fixed 12x scope with adjustable objective, and Sako Collectors Club paperwork indicating 1950 manufacture and 1961 import to the USA. Setback performed or rechambering; verify with a gunsmith.

    Condition

Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Fouling: Mild Fouling - Light buildup of fouling or dirt.

Specific Condition Notes: There are scratches and dings, especially on the wood around the bolt. The trigger is notably crisp. What’s Included

    • Leupold fixed 12x scope with adjustable objective/parallax and gloss-finish tube (installed)
    • Scope rings clamping the receiver's integral dovetail rails (installed)
    • 1x 3-round magazine
    • Sako Collectors Club paperwork indicating 1950 manufacture and 1961 import to the USA

Built on Sako's small receiver with integral tapered dovetail scope rails (two bridges), this L469 features a right-side bolt-shroud safety and a round bolt knob with a checkered face. The heavy/varmint-profile 24-inch steel barrel is cleanly configured without iron sights, aligning with its varmint and target intent. Capacity is noted as 3+1.

The stock is a custom, light-toned, highly figured hardwood with a rollover Monte Carlo cheekpiece. It carries relief-carved panels at the fore-end and pistol grip, a contrasting dark fore-end tip with spacer, and an aftermarket ventilated recoil pad. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches, and a front sling swivel stud is installed.

A gloss-finish Leupold fixed 12x scope with adjustable objective/parallax is mounted using rings that clamp directly to the Sako integral dovetails, providing a secure and tidy setup suited to the rifle's heavy-barrel role. The receiver and barrel wear a matching gloss blued finish.

Documentation from the Sako Collectors Club is included and indicates manufacture in 1950 with import to the USA in 1961. This date precedes commonly cited model and cartridge timelines for the L469 and .222 Remington Magnum and is provided for documentation review. The rifle's transitional heavy-barrel configuration associated with the .222 Remington Magnum contributes to its collector interest.
