Product Description

    1953 Marlin Model 336 R.C. .30-30 Lever-Action Carbine, 20 in Barrel, JM-Stamped, Pre-Safety, Blued

This 1953 Marlin Model 336 R.C. carbine pairs classic .30-30 performance with hallmark early features: a JM-stamped barrel, solid-top side-eject receiver, and no cross-bolt safety. It has a 20-inch barrel, full-length 6-round tubular magazine, and traditional blued steel with walnut-finished hardwood furniture. The bore is excellent, and period-correct details like the New Haven barrel address and smooth-top receiver (post waffle-top) add interest. Thoughtful upgrades include a Pachmayr "White Line" recoil pad and a single sling-swivel stud in the buttstock toe.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Overall Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Details: The barrel has plenty of life remaining. There is visible finish wear consistent with use. The stock has a crack that appears to have been properly relieved to prevent further issues. General handling and carry wear are present throughout.

    What’s Included

    • Marlin Model 336 R.C. .30-30 lever-action rifle (1953)
    • Installed Pachmayr "White Line" recoil pad
    • Single sling-swivel stud installed in the buttstock toe

Built in 1953, this Regular Carbine configuration features a 20-inch carbon-steel barrel and full-length tubular magazine with six-round capacity. It retains the solid-top, side-ejecting receiver characteristic of the era, with a smooth top that is not drilled or tapped for scope mounts. The receiver and barrel wear a classic blued finish.

The barrel is JM-stamped and carries the New Haven barrel address rollmark. Iron sights include a ramp-mounted front blade without hood and a semi-buckhorn rear sight with elevator. Two steel barrel bands secure the carbine-length forend.

The stock set is walnut-finished hardwood with a pistol-grip, uncheckered profile and matching carbine forend. A Pachmayr "White Line" recoil pad is fitted, yielding a 13.75-inch length of pull, and a single sling-swivel stud is installed in the buttstock toe.

Mechanically, it follows the proven Marlin layout with a right-side loading gate, side ejection, and no cross-bolt safety. The bore condition is excellent, with sharp rifling. Note the crack in the stock; it appears properly relieved to mitigate further propagation.
