Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.
Much of the original finish on the alloy frame has thinned or worn, with the steel barrel and cylinder showing fading, scattered scratches, and a light patina. The bore is bright, clean, and shiny with sharp rifling. The 9-shot cylinder indexes correctly, and the action exhibits play in the lock-up consistent with age. The original one-piece checkered grips remain functional with smoothing and small dings. The revolver remains mechanically sound.
What's Included
- Leather holster with snap retention strap
The Sentinel R-101 uses a forward-pull ejector-rod head to release the swing-out cylinder, eliminating a frame-mounted latch. This distinctive mechanism is a hallmark of the model and contributes to fast, direct cylinder operation.
Construction pairs a matte gray anodized aluminum frame with a polished blued carbon-steel barrel and cylinder, giving the revolver a purposeful two-tone look. The hammer and trigger are case-colored, and the topstrap carries longitudinal serrations to reduce glare.
Sighting is straightforward and durable, with a ramped blade front and a fixed square-notch rear cut into the topstrap. The exposed spur hammer supports traditional double-action/single-action use.
The grip is a one-piece brown checkered plastic panel with a diamond pattern, complemented by a right-side round frame medallion bearing an eagle and "SENTINEL." Barrel markings read "HI-STANDARD .22 CAL." on the left and "HIGH STANDARD MFG. CORP. HAMDEN, CONN. U.S.A." on the right.
Chambered in .22 LR with a 3-inch barrel and a 9-round cylinder, this U.S.-made revolver delivers the classic High Standard rimfire configuration associated with the Sentinel line.
