The Model 917V is a right-hand, bolt-action rimfire chambered in .17 HMR with a detachable magazine system. Capacity is 7+1, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches. The action includes a two-position safety and Marlin's T-900 single-stage trigger.
Its 22-inch carbon steel barrel uses a heavy/varmint profile for stability and heat control. The barrel is free-floated with a recessed target crown and an unthreaded muzzle, and it wears a uniform blued finish. The twist rate is 1:9 to suit popular .17 HMR loads.
The receiver is carbon steel with a blued finish and features integral 3/8-inch tip-off grooves, plus factory drilling and tapping for bases. There are no iron sights. The included Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40 scope with a duplex reticle is mounted in 3/8-inch tip-off rings.
The hardwood Monte Carlo stock has a walnut finish, pressed checkering, sling swivel studs, and a Marlin logo buttplate. A camouflage-pattern sling is installed. This rifle carries a North Haven, CT barrel rollmark and is made in the USA.
