Built by James River Armory in the USA, the Gallant delivers the Galil pattern with a new U.S. billet-steel receiver and new U.S. barrel, finished in parkerizing. The receiver carries Hebrew selector legends, preserving the classic look and markings associated with the original rifles.
This rifle uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt. The right-side charging handle has a large knurled knob for positive operation. It is chambered in 5.56mm NATO with a stated capacity of 30+1.
The ARM-style configuration includes a ribbed wood lower handguard and a folding bipod mounted at the gas block. The side-folding steel stock hinges to the right and ends in a ribbed steel buttplate, with a measured length of pull of 14.0 inches.
The 18-inch barrel is threaded and fitted with a slotted Galil-type flash hider. Iron sights include a hooded front post and an aperture rear sight on the top cover with a windage screw. The pistol grip is a U.S.-made unit from Phoenix Technology.
Documentation advises the use of true mil-spec 5.56x45mm ammunition and notes to avoid .223 commercial or steel-cased loads.
