The Public Defender Poly variant uses a polymer frame with a matte black finish and a stainless steel barrel liner inside a shrouded assembly, delivering a durable and weight-conscious build. The five-shot steel cylinder is fluted and finished in matte black, with an enclosed ejector rod and Taurus-pattern crane and cylinder latch.
Chambered for .45 Colt and 2.5-inch .410 bore shells, this revolver offers versatile ammunition options in a compact platform. The action is double-action/single-action with an exposed hammer, giving the shooter flexibility in operation.
Sight regulation is handled by a fiber-optic ramp front and a square-notch rear that is windage-adjustable. The high-visibility front element and defined rear notch provide a clear sight picture.
Safety features include a transfer bar and the Taurus Security System (key lock).
