It is chambered for 2 3/4" and 3" shells, has a 3+1 capacity, and uses a top tang safety for straightforward operation.

The BPS design loads and ejects from the bottom and uses a top tang safety, making it friendly for right- or left-handed use. Dual action bars provide smooth cycling and solid lockup.
The 26" field barrel has a ventilated rib and a single front bead for clean sighting. It is compatible with Browning standard Invector screw-in chokes and is fitted with a flush-fit tube. The barrel is marked "FIELD MODEL."
The receiver is polished blued steel with factory roll-engraved scrollwork and a flying birds game scene. The barrel and receiver are steel with a blued finish. Markings include "Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q., MADE IN JAPAN."
The stock and forend are gloss walnut with crisp checkering. The stock features a pistol grip and a rubber recoil pad, with a 14.0" length of pull.
