The MOD D-38 is an over/under, two-barrel, break-open derringer in .38 Special with 3 inch barrels and a micro footprint. Capacity is two rounds, making it a straightforward, compact defensive-style platform.
Construction is all stainless steel for both the barrels and frame, finished in a bright polished metal. Sighting is simple and durable, with an integral front blade and a rear notch cut into the top strap.
This pistol runs single-action only with an external spur hammer. Safety features include a cross-bolt safety and a hammer block. The top-hinged action is released by a knurled latch on the left side of the barrels, and the breechface carries two fixed firing pins.
Each cocking cycle automatically alternates the firing sequence between the upper and lower barrels, a hallmark of the D-series design. Markings include barrel rollmarks "AMERICAN DERRINGER CORP., WACO, TX" and "MOD D-38 CAL .38 SP." The right side of the frame is stamped "D HC F." Made in the USA.
An extra set of checkered birds-head wood grips is included, offering a ready replacement set for the factory-style panels.
