The Springfield Armory EMP 4 Lightweight Champion is a purpose-built 9mm 1911 with the EMP short-action architecture for reduced grip circumference and shorter trigger reach. This two-tone, compact 4-inch model features a stainless match-grade bull barrel, a hardcoat-anodized aluminum alloy frame, and comes equipped with an attached Streamlight TLR-6 light/laser combo. It includes three 9-round magazines and ships in the factory case labeled "EMP-4 9MM CHMP LW BITONE CARRY CUT."

Designed around the 9mm cartridge, the EMP short-action 1911 architecture reduces grip circumference and trigger reach, delivering a compact feel while maintaining 1911 ergonomics. Capacity is 9+1, and this pistol includes three single-stack 9-round steel magazines marked "Made in Italy."
The 4-inch stainless steel barrel is bushingless, bull-profile, fully ramped, and match-grade, paired with a full-length guide rod. The slide has a matte stainless finish with rear serrations, carry cuts at the nose, an external extractor, and a lowered ejection port. The two-tone look is completed by a hardcoat-anodized aluminum alloy frame.
Controls and sights are set up for decisive operation: single-action trigger with a skeletonized shoe, ambidextrous thumb safety, and a beavertail grip safety with memory bump. The hammer is a skeletonized Commander-style. Sighting is fast and clear with a red fiber-optic front and a low-profile 2-dot rear. Thin grey/black textured G10 grip panels and a textured front strap with a flat mainspring housing using a Posi-Lok scale/dimple pattern provide consistent purchase.
This pistol comes with an attached Streamlight TLR-6 light/laser combo for immediate illumination and aiming capability.
