The rifle uses a stamped 1.5 mm receiver paired with a forged bulged (RPK-style) front trunnion for added rigidity. It features a smooth stamped top cover and a matte black finish throughout the receiver. The long-stroke gas piston, semi-automatic action is the classic AK operating system.
The 16.3 inch barrel is cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined, providing durability and ease of maintenance. A threaded muzzle with M14x1 left-hand threads is ready for compatible muzzle devices. Sighting equipment includes a protected front post and a tangent rear sight.
Hardwood furniture includes a fixed stock, wood pistol grip, and a two-piece wood handguard with three elongated cooling slots on the lower section. Controls include a manual safety lever with a bolt hold-open notch.
The rifle accepts standard double-stack AK-pattern magazines and has a 30+1 capacity. One 30-round Magpul PMAG AK/AKM polymer magazine is included. Length of pull is 13.0.
Receiver markings read MDL. ZPAPM70 CAL 7.62X39MM with selector positions marked SAFE and FIRE. Import and origin markings include ZASTAVA ARMS USA DES PLAINES IL and ZASTAVA ARMS MADE IN SERBIA. The serial number is also repeated on the bolt carrier.
