Built as a full-size .45 ACP duty pistol, the FNX-45 Tactical pairs a polymer FDE frame with a stainless-steel FDE slide marked "FN Columbia, SC USA." It uses a DA/SA, hammer-fired, short-recoil system with an external spurred hammer and an ambidextrous safety/decocker.
The 5.3" stainless steel barrel is cold hammer forged, extended, and threaded 0.578x28 with a knurled thread protector, offering durability and compatibility with standard .45 ACP muzzle devices. Suppressor-height tritium night sights provide a clear sight picture day or night.
The slide features front and rear cocking serrations and an optics cut with a cover plate, giving users flexibility in setup. The frame includes an accessory rail, checkered grip panels, and interchangeable backstraps to tailor fit and control.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety/decocker, slide stop, and magazine release, making the gun equally accessible for right- or left-handed operation. A lanyard eyelet at the heel adds secure retention options.
This example includes two standard-length 15-round magazines and one extended 20-round magazine, expanding on-board capacity and offering options for carry and range use.
