The MSR-15 uses a semi-automatic, direct impingement system with a rotating bolt and is chambered in 5.56mm NATO. It has a stated capacity of 30+1 and features a right-side magazine release and a manual safety. The rifle incorporates a forward assist, case deflector, and ejection-port cover.
The free-float aluminum handguard provides a continuous T-marked top Picatinny rail. The handguard is marked "Pat. Pend." and features wave-shaped vent slots. The upper receiver is engraved "S.W.A.T. FIREARMS," and the lower receiver is roll-marked with the maker, model, and "Caliber: MULTI."
The 16 inch barrel is threaded and fitted with a multi-port/pronged brake/flash hider. The rifle is finished in matte black, with aluminum receivers anodized to match. Country of origin is the USA.
