The XD-40 Service Model is a full-size, striker-fired pistol with a 4-inch steel barrel and polymer frame. This example represents the original XD series configuration (not Mod.2 or XD-M), offering the classic ergonomics and controls that defined the line.
Controls are practical and straightforward, including an ambidextrous magazine release and dual passive safeties consisting of a grip safety and a trigger safety. A top-mounted loaded-chamber indicator provides quick visual and tactile status at a glance.
The slide features front and rear cocking serrations for positive manipulation. Fixed 3-dot sights are dovetailed into the slide, allowing secure alignment and robust retention.
