What’s Included
- Thompson/Center Hawken .50 caliber caplock muzzleloading rifle
The 28-inch octagonal blued barrel is marked "THOMPSON | CENTER ARMS ROCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE .50 CAL. HAWKEN" and includes a hooked breech for easy takedown. A clear "BLACK POWDER ONLY – INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE READ BEFORE USE" warning rollmark is present. The percussion ignition uses a bolster/snail with a threaded clean-out screw for straightforward maintenance.
The lockplate and hammer are color case-hardened and factory scroll-engraved, adding classic visual appeal to the Hawken-style profile. Brass furniture includes the patchbox, crescent buttplate, trigger guard, nose cap, and thimbles, all exhibiting a pleasing, uniform patina.
Controls and handling features include crisp double-set triggers, a single transverse wedge key retaining the barrel, and a 14.5-inch length of pull. The external hammer caplock action provides reliable percussion ignition in a traditional single-shot layout.
Sighting is handled by adjustable open sights: a dovetailed bladed front and an adjustable rear, pairing well with the barrel’s 1:48 twist. The walnut half-stock with cheekpiece delivers a familiar Hawken-style feel that balances the full-size rifle effectively.
