Marked with factory Gold Cup rollmarks and a National Match barrel hood visible through the ejection port, it presents the hallmark features that define Colt's premium 1911 match guns.

The MK IV/Series 80 Gold Cup National Match pairs a 5-inch National Match .45 ACP barrel with a stainless steel frame and slide finished in matte stainless with brushed flats. The full-length top rib is flat and serrated to cut glare, and the ejection port is lowered to aid reliable case clearance. The slide is factory marked "SERIES '80 COLT MK IV" over "GOLD CUP NATIONAL MATCH" with the Rampant Colt on the left side, and "GOLD CUP NATIONAL MATCH" with a trophy cup emblem on the right side.
Target sighting equipment includes a square Patridge-style front blade and a Colt Elliason fully adjustable rear sight, providing fine control over elevation and windage. The National Match barrel hood is marked "COLT .45 AUTO N.M." and is visible through the ejection port, underscoring the model’s match-focused build.
The wide, lightened three-hole target trigger features an overtravel stop for a crisp, controlled break. Safety equipment consists of a left-side manual thumb safety, a grip safety with a long duckbill tang, and the Series 80 firing-pin safety. The pistol is configured with a serrated spur hammer, a vertically serrated mainspring housing, and a smooth front strap.
Stocks are black pebbled synthetic panels with Colt medallions for a secure hold and classic Colt presentation. The frame is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.
