The XM15-E2S HBAR configuration centers on a steel heavy-profile barrel that is magnetic particle inspected and marked B MP. It measures 16 inches with a 1:9 twist to stabilize a broad range of .223/5.56 projectiles. The muzzle is plain crowned and unthreaded, and the A-frame front sight base is configured without a bayonet lug.
Sighting is handled by fixed iron sights: an A-frame front sight post and an A2 carry-handle rear sight with a windage drum, giving durable zero retention and familiar adjustments. The upper features a teardrop-style forward assist.
The rifle uses a carbine-length gas system and a semi-automatic, direct-impingement action. Controls include a manual safety. Capacity is 30+1 when using the included magazines.
Furniture includes a carbine-length, two-piece ribbed polymer handguard, an A2-pattern polymer pistol grip, and a 6-position collapsible polymer stock with a sling loop and checkered buttplate. The aluminum receivers are hard-anodized, and the overall finish is a combination of phosphate and hard-anodized treatments. Receiver markings include MOD. XM15-E2S and CAL .223–5.56MM, with the left-side manufacturer marking reading B.F.I. WINDHAM, ME, U.S.A.
