Built for compact handling without giving up .308 performance, the SOCOM 16 configuration centers on a 16.25-inch carbon steel barrel with a 1:11 RH twist. The SOCOM multi-port muzzle brake and proprietary gas-lock/front-sight assembly manage recoil and house the wing-protected front post, while a forward barrel-mounted Picatinny scout rail is fitted at the 12 o’clock position.
The rifle uses the proven gas-operated, rotating-bolt action of the M1A and includes a two-stage trigger. Controls are true to the platform: a paddle-style magazine release, trigger guard safety, and a right-side charging handle. Sighting is fast and precise with an adjustable aperture rear matched to the protected front post.
The steel receiver wears a matte finish with overall black coloration, set into a black composite stock. The stock includes a GI-style metal buttplate with trapdoor, molded checkering panels for grip, and fixed sling swivels. Length of pull is 13.0 inches.
Markings confirm authenticity and configuration: the receiver heel reads "US RIFLE M1A SPRINGFIELD ARMORY," the right-side receiver/barrel area is marked "SOCOM 16," and the operating rod is marked "7790186-SA F00196." The rifle accepts M14/M1A-pattern steel magazines, with capacity up to 20+1. This example includes two 20-round magazines and one 10-round magazine.
