The Midnight Backcountry variant uses the proven six-lug Mark V bolt with a short 54-degree lift for smooth cycling. The bolt body is spiral-fluted, and the bottom metal includes a latch at the front of the trigger guard for the hinged floorplate.
The 24-inch barrel is fluted, crowned, and threaded, and it comes with a thread protector installed. The barrel is rollmarked "USE ONLY 240 WBY MAG" to clearly indicate the correct chambering.
The rifle wears a matte bronze-tone finish on the receiver and floorplate, which features the Weatherby W logo. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and there are no sights installed.
The composite stock is gray with bronze/copper speckle, fitted with a rubber recoil pad and sling swivel studs. The internal box magazine has a capacity of three rounds, and the rifle uses a two-position safety. Rollmarks include WEATHERBY, SHERIDAN, WY and MARK V, MADE IN U.S.A.
