It is a single-action percussion (cap-and-ball) revolver in .44 caliber with a six-shot cylinder and the classic under-barrel plunger loading lever with latch.
The 9 inch tapered blued carbon steel barrel and blued carbon steel cylinder are paired with a color case-hardened steel frame for period-correct appearance. It features a square-back brass trigger guard and brass grip frame with a blued steel backstrap, plus a one-piece wood grip that matches the original profile.
