The Short Rifle configuration features a 20 inch round barrel, steel forend cap, and a steel crescent buttplate. The receiver and furniture wear a uniform blued finish that complements the straight-grip walnut stock and walnut forearm.
It uses the open-top, toggle-link 1873 action with a sliding dust cover and serrated tab. A brass carrier block is marked "Cal. 45 Colt." The rifle loads through a right-side loading gate and ejects from the top.
The full-length tubular magazine provides a stated 10+1 capacity in .45 Colt. Sighting equipment consists of a dovetailed front blade and a step-elevator semi-buckhorn rear sight. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches.
