Browning BPS Field 12 Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun, 28 Inch Vent Rib, Invector Choke, Made in Japan (1986)
This 1986 Browning BPS Field is a Japanese-made pump-action built by Miroku, combining bottom ejection and a tang safety for true ambidextrous use. It features a 28-inch ventilated rib barrel with the original Browning Invector screw-in choke system, gloss blued steel, and checkered walnut furniture. Chambered for both 2 3/4" and 3" shells with a 4+1 capacity, it is a well-detailed example with the correct Browning/Miroku markings.
Condition
Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.
Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.
Specific Condition Notes: The original gloss blued finish shows typical signs of field use, including thinning at carry points and superficial scratches on the receiver. The 28-inch barrel has a mirror-bright, clean bore with no pitting or lead fouling. The checkered walnut stock and fore-end are structurally sound with typical hunting dings and minor smoothing of the checkering; there are no major cracks.
What's Included
- Browning BPS Field 12 Gauge pump-action shotgun (1986, Made in Japan)
Made in Japan by Miroku, this BPS Field carries the Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q. markings along with "Made in Japan." The bottom ejection system keeps spent hulls away from the shooter and, paired with the tang safety, offers fully ambidextrous operation. Dual action bars contribute to a smooth and consistent pump stroke.
The 28-inch steel barrel uses the original Browning Invector choke system (not Invector-Plus) and is topped with a ventilated rib featuring fine cross-hatching for glare reduction. A single front bead provides a clean, familiar sight picture. Chambers are cut for both 2 3/4" and 3" shells.
The shotgun retains a gloss blued finish over a steel receiver and barrel, matched with gloss-finished walnut furniture. The stock and fore-end are checkered for grip, and a recoil pad is installed. A gold-colored trigger and knurled magazine cap round out the classic BPS Field details.
Capacity is 4+1, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches. The configuration reflects a practical field layout built with durable materials and thoughtful controls that align with the BPS reputation for robustness.
