The ZPAPM70 uses a stamped steel AK-pattern receiver with a ribbed top cover and the M70 dust-cover locking button at the rear-left of the receiver. It operates via a gas-operated, long-stroke piston system and accepts standard double-stack AK magazines. A manual safety lever provides straightforward controls consistent with the platform.
The 16.3-inch barrel is cold-hammer-forged and chrome-lined for longevity and ease of maintenance. It is threaded M14x1 LH, with a conical muzzle cap installed from the factory. A cleaning rod is fitted under the barrel.
Furniture consists of a fixed walnut stock and matching wood pistol grip, paired with wood handguards that have three elongated cooling slots per side. Length of pull is 13.0 inches, overall length is approximately 35.25 inches, and the rifle weighs about 7.9 pounds.
Sights are traditional and practical: a protected-post front sight and a tangent rear sight with an elevation slider. The rifle uses the standard AK gas block without a grenade sight, and features non-dimpled receiver sides typical of the Yugoslav/Serbian pattern. The bolt and carrier exhibit a bright-polished finish.
Factory and import markings include ZASTAVA ARMS USA DES PLAINES IL and ZASTAVA ARMS MADE IN SERBIA. Capacity is 30+1, and this example includes three 30-round magazines, including one Magpul PMAG AK polymer magazine.
