The Government Model XSE pairs classic 1911 lines with Series 80 internal safety and a stainless-steel slide and frame. It is a full-size, 5-inch .45 ACP with a 7+1 capacity, built in the USA in 2008 under Colt part number O1070XSE.
The XSE feature set includes front and rear cocking serrations and a lowered, flared ejection port. Controls are set up with an ambidextrous thumb safety and a beavertail grip safety with memory pad for consistent engagement.
The fire-control system uses a long three-hole aluminum trigger and a skeletonized rowel hammer. It retains a GI-style recoil system with a short guide rod and spring plug, maintaining traditional 1911 handling and takedown.
Sighting is via fixed, low-mount 3-dot sights with a white-dot front and white-dot rear; the rear sight is marked COLT and the sight body carries U.S. Pat. No. markings. Grip surfaces include double-diamond checkered wood panels, a flat vertically serrated mainspring housing, and a smooth front strap.
Factory markings are correct, with the right slide stamped COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL and the left slide marked GOVERNMENT MODEL COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBER .45 alongside the rampant Colt logo. The barrel hood is marked COLT 45 AUTO.
