Product Description

Ruger M77 R Standard Tang Safety .338 Win. Mag., 24-Inch Blued Sporter, Walnut Stock (1990)

This Ruger M77 R Standard in .338 Win. Mag. is a late tang-safety example from 1990, the final pre–Mark II era. It features a 24-inch chrome-moly sporter barrel with a crowned muzzle and no iron sights, a blued steel receiver with integral scope bases, and the classic M77 push-feed action with an external Mauser-type extractor. The walnut stock has cut checkering, a straight comb, and Ruger-logo black buttplate, with a 13.75-inch length of pull.

    What’s Included

    • Ruger M77 R Standard bolt-action rifle in .338 Win. Mag. (1990 tang-safety series)
    • Scope mounts installed

The R Standard variant pairs a 24-inch chrome-moly sporter barrel with a crowned muzzle for protection, and it omits iron sights by design. The rifle is finished in blued steel, with a bright in-the-white bolt body that contrasts cleanly against the receiver.

This late tang-safety M77, produced in 1990, represents the final generation before the Mark II transition. It runs a push-feed, two-lug bolt and uses an external Mauser-type extractor with a plunger ejector. The receiver’s integral scope bases provide a solid interface for the included scope mounts.

The internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate holds three rounds of .338 Win. Mag. The tang safety is easy to access and is consistent with the series designation. There are no iron sights, keeping the top of the barrel clean for optics use.

The walnut stock features a straight comb, cut checkering at the grip and fore-end, and QD sling-swivel studs for easy sling attachment. A Ruger-logo black buttplate completes the classic look. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches.

Made in the USA, this rifle combines the hallmark M77 action, robust materials, and the favored tang safety layout in a chambering appropriate for serious hunting applications.
