Designated as a 181-Series Mini-14, this rifle dates to 1979, aligning with the first year Ruger offered the model in stainless. It follows the Mini lineage with a fixed-piston, gas-operated system and rotating bolt, a pattern derived from the M1/M14 family. Receiver markings include "RUGER MINI-14 CAL..223" and "STURM, RUGER & CO., INC., SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A."
The rifle retains the classic pencil-profile 18.5-inch stainless barrel and a stainless receiver, matched to a walnut-finished hardwood stock. A black ventilated polymer/fiberglass upper handguard completes the period-correct look while aiding heat dissipation. Length of pull measures 12.5 inches.
Sighting is straightforward and durable, with a receiver-mounted aperture rear sight with protective wings. The current configuration includes a clamp-on slotted muzzle device that incorporates the front sight, aligning with the Mini-14’s practical iron-sight setup.
Controls include a right-side charging handle and a trigger-guard safety. Capacity is 5+1, and this rifle ships with one detachable 5-round steel magazine. Manufactured in the United States, it represents a notable early stainless example of the Mini-14 platform.
