The AUG/A3 M1 uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt in a compact bullpup layout. It features a cross-bolt safety and a two-stage trigger, a left-side non-reciprocating charging handle, and is currently configured for right-hand ejection with the left ejection-port cover installed. The stock is marked "AUG/SA."
The 16-inch barrel is cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined, paired with an adjustable gas regulator for reliable operation. A threaded muzzle with a slotted flash hider is installed, and the vertical foregrip mounts to the barrel assembly for the familiar AUG handling profile.
The receiver is railed and T-marked with integral flip-up front and rear iron sights. The color scheme combines a black metal receiver/barrel group with a tan high-strength polymer stock and foregrip.
Markings include "Steyr Arms, Inc., Bessemer, Alabama" and a barrel block marked "Made in the USA / 5.56 x 45/.223 Rem." The rifle is made in Austria, reflecting the AUG lineage and build standards.
