What's Included
- Carl Gustav Gevär m/96 6.5x55 Swedish bolt-action rifle
Built at Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori, this m/96 is the long rifle configuration with a 29-inch barrel. It is chambered in 6.5x55 Swedish, a cartridge closely associated with Sweden’s Mauser service rifles, and features a blued finish with a bright-finished bolt.
The action is the Swedish, pre-98 Mauser-type turn-bolt that cocks on closing, paired with a 5-round internal box magazine designed for charger loading. A Mauser-type wing safety is fitted at the rear of the bolt, consistent with service configuration.
Stock furniture is the full-length type with a finger groove, upper handguard, and a brass stock disc. The rifle includes sling swivels on the lower band and at the toe, plus a nose cap with bayonet lug, reflecting its original military setup.
Sighting equipment consists of a front blade in a low, protected base and a rear tangent leaf with ladder. Markings include a crown-over-"C" crest on the receiver ring, inspector initials "O.G." on the left receiver wall (attributed to Swedish ordnance inspector Olof D. Gibson), and a front barrel band stamped with a crown over "109," consistent with Sweden’s practice of marking the last three digits of the serial on small parts. An importer mark "CAI ST ALB VT M/96 SWEDEN 6.5X55" is present on the rifle.
