The Pardner Model SB1 uses an external top-lever break-action with an exposed hammer and a single trigger, offering simple, direct operation. Capacity is 1 round. The 25.5 in barrel is marked PARDNER-MODEL SB1 20 GA. 3 in MOD., confirming the 3 in chamber and fixed Modified choke.
The receiver is color casehardened, and the barrel/metalwork is finished in blued steel. The receiver bears NEW ENGLAND FIREARMS MANUFACTURED IN GARDNER, MASS. U.S.A. U.S. PAT.
NO. 3988848. A circled P proof mark is present. The bore is bright and clean.
Sighting is straightforward with a brass bead front and no rear sight. The top lever and exposed hammer provide clear, tactile control of the action.
The hardwood stock has a semi-pistol-grip profile with a satin finish, uncheckered panels, and an NEF-logo black buttplate. Length of pull measures 14.25 in. The plain hardwood forearm is retained by a single screw for a clean, utilitarian look.
