The Model 4006 pairs a full-size stainless steel frame and slide with a 4-inch barrel, delivering the heavy-duty construction characteristic of S&W’s Third Generation pistols. Capacity is 11+1 with double-stack steel magazines, and the beveled magazine well supports smooth reloads.
Controls and safety systems include a DA/SA, hammer-fired action with a smooth-faced curved trigger, an exposed spur hammer, and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker. The pistol also incorporates a firing-pin safety and a magazine disconnect safety.
Sight and slide features are straightforward and duty-focused: fixed low-mount 3-dot (Novak-style) sights with a white-dot front blade, plus an external extractor and an ejection port relief cut. The matte bead-blast stainless finish on both slide and frame provides a uniform, low-glare appearance.
Ergonomics are enhanced by a one-piece wraparound black synthetic grip with pebble/diamond texture, a checkered steel front strap and grooved heel, and a squared trigger guard. A lanyard/pin hole at the grip base adds versatility for carry and retention.
As a non-TSW, non-railed configuration, this 4006 reflects the original pattern introduced with the .40 S&W cartridge in 1990 and is representative of the model widely issued to U.S. law enforcement. The included double-stack magazines feature numbered witness holes to 11 for quick round-count checks.
