Made in Houlton, Maine under license from Walther, this PPK/S-1 features period-correct markings: the right side of the slide bears the Walther banner and "Smith & Wesson Houlton, ME USA," while the left side reads "UNDER LICENSE OF Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do. Modell PPK/S Cal. 9mm kurz/.380ACP." The frame is stamped "PPK/S-1," and the barrel hood is marked ".380ACP."
The pistol uses a straight-blowback, DA/SA system with an exposed ring hammer. Controls include a left-side push-button magazine release and a slide-mounted safety/decocker with a red "fire" dot indicator. Capacity is 7+1 with the included single-column magazines.
Sighting is classic and highly visible: a fixed front ramp with a red dot pairs with a drift-adjustable rear notch carrying a red bar. The stainless slide has rear serrations and a matte, serrated top rib to reduce glare.
