The latest FN High Power combines classic single-action, recoil-operated function with thoughtfully modernized features. An extended beavertail, ambidextrous thumb safeties, bilateral slide-stop levers, a reversible magazine release, and a right-side rotating takedown lever support confident manipulation from either hand.
The all-steel frame and slide deliver a solid, full-size feel at approximately 40 oz. The 4.7 in cold hammer-forged barrel is built for durability, and the rowel (ring) hammer complements the pistol's single-action fire control.
Sighting is straightforward and adaptable. The pistol uses FN 509-pattern dovetails with a fiber-optic front sight and a drift-adjustable steel rear, both dovetailed into the slide. Slide serrations are at the rear only for a clean front profile.
Finish and ergonomics are dialed in for consistent handling. Both the slide and frame wear a matte silver finish, while the installed textured blue/black synthetic grips offer traction. Frontstrap checkering and a beveled magazine well aid control and reloads. Capacity is 17+1, and the design omits the magazine disconnect safety found on legacy Hi-Power patterns.
