This 317-3 is built on S&W’s J-frame with AirLite construction, pairing an aluminum-alloy frame and cylinder with a steel-lined 3-inch barrel under an alloy shroud. The 8-shot fluted cylinder keeps weight to a minimum while maintaining ample rimfire capacity. AirLite branding is present on the frame.
The sighting system combines a pinned HIVIZ green fiber-optic front sight with a fully adjustable S&W micrometer-style V-notch rear. The 3-inch barrel length offers a useful sight radius, and the underlugged, shrouded profile protects the ejector system while keeping the balance lively.
Controls include a knurled ejector rod and the standard left-side S&W cylinder latch. The action is double-action/single-action with an exposed hammer for deliberate single-action shots when desired.
The revolver wears black synthetic finger-groove round-butt grips with S&W medallions, providing a secure hold. The matte/satin silver finish across the alloy frame, cylinder, and receiver components gives a uniform appearance. Made in the USA.
