This CA7 operates as a bolt action. The action needs to be manually cycled in order to fire the next round. It is a manually operated, non-gas, straight-pull AR-pattern pistol designed specifically for California compliance while maintaining familiar AR-15 ergonomics and controls.
The 7.5 in medium-contour barrel is threaded and fitted with an A2 flash hider. It is matched to a 7 in Franklin Armory FST free-float aluminum handguard featuring a full-length top Picatinny rail. The flat-top upper includes a forward assist, brass deflector, and ejection-port cover. The barrel uses a 1:9 twist.
Controls are purposeful and easy to run: a right-side operating rod complements the standard rear charging handle. The pistol buffer tube is fitted with a foam cheek pad, and the A2-style pistol grip provides a familiar interface.
The aluminum receivers wear a black hard-coat anodized finish, and the bolt carrier is finished in salt bath nitride. Typical capacity is 10+1, and this example includes five 10-round magazines.
