What’s Included
- Ludwig Loewe Modelo 1893 Spanish Contract bolt-action rifle chambered in 7mm Mauser (7x57mm)
Built by Ludwig Loewe & Co., Berlin in 1896, this rifle represents an early Spanish Contract Modelo 1893 built on the classic small-ring Mauser action. It uses a controlled-round feed system with a full-length external extractor and dual front locking lugs. The internal fixed magazine holds five rounds, with a floorplate release inside the trigger guard.
The rifle has been sporterized with a commercial hardwood stock featuring a Monte Carlo cheekpiece and pistol grip. White-line spacers accent the grip cap, forend tip, and buttplate, and the stock is fitted with sling swivels. A black plastic grip cap and black plastic buttplate complete the sporting configuration.
The barreled action is blued steel, and the barrel length is set to 24 inches. The original military rear sight has been removed and no rear sight is installed. A ramped front blade sight is fitted, and the receiver has been drilled and tapped.
Markings include the Spanish coat of arms crest on the receiver ring with "BERLIN 1896," as well as the left-side legend "MAUSER ESPAÑOL MODELO 1893. MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN." Additional markings include a six-pointed star proof, an oval/crescent-shaped stamp, and a small "8." Visible parts show matching serial numbers, reinforcing the rifle’s cohesive build history.
