The M&P 40 Shield delivers a slim, single-stack 6+1 capacity in .40 S&W with a striker-fired action and a hinged trigger that incorporates a trigger safety. This example is the No Thumb Safety variant, relying on its integrated trigger safety and a top-mounted loaded-chamber indicator for status awareness.
Its stainless steel slide and 3.1 inch stainless barrel are Melonite/nitride treated, and the slide wears a black nitride finish. Rear-only slide serrations provide traction for charging without adding bulk to the front of the slide.
Sight picture is fast and high-visibility thanks to the factory-installed fiber-optic set: a green front and two-dot red rear, both dovetailed for secure mounting. The loaded-chamber indicator sits on top of the slide and is clearly marked 'LOADED WHEN UP'.
The black polymer frame keeps weight down and durability up, with textured grip panels for control. There is no accessory rail on this model, preserving the Shield’s streamlined profile.
Included is one S&W-marked factory 6-round magazine with a stainless-steel body and a flush polymer baseplate, matching the pistol’s single-stack design.
