This Hawken reproduction integrates traditional architecture with practical field features. The 28" octagonal blued steel barrel is paired with a hooked breech for easy takedown and cleaning. A full-length under-rib with two brass thimbles supports the installed wooden ramrod with brass tips.
The percussion cap sidelock action uses an external hammer and double-set triggers for a crisp release. The lockplate is color case-hardened and factory scroll-engraved, adding period-correct visual detail to its functional form.
The walnut-type hardwood stock has a glossy finish and includes a left-side cheekpiece for comfortable alignment. Brass furniture throughout—trigger guard, forend cap, patchbox door/sideplate, and crescent buttplate—complements the rifle’s Hawken style. Length of pull is 13.25" for a full-size fit.
Sighting is handled by a dovetailed front blade and an adjustable rear open sight. The barrel is rollmarked “THOMPSON | CENTER ARMS ROCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE .50 CAL. HAWKEN.” and carries a safety warning rollmark indicating black powder only (“DO NOT USE SMOKELESS POWDER…”). The 1:48 rifling twist supports versatile .50 caliber muzzleloading use with a single-shot capacity.
