The Smith & Wesson Model 4006 is a Third-Generation, full-size .40 S&W pistol built on a matte stainless-steel frame and slide. This non-TSW configuration reflects the original law-enforcement proven design introduced alongside the .40 S&W in 1990 and widely adopted across the U.S., including by the California Highway Patrol. It offers DA/SA operation with an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker, a 4-inch barrel, and an 11+1 capacity.

This Model 4006 features a stainless-steel frame and slide with a uniform matte finish and vertical rear slide serrations. The front strap is checkered, and the front of the trigger guard is serrated for added purchase. The one-piece black textured wraparound synthetic grip includes S&W medallions, providing a secure and consistent hold.
The DA/SA, short-recoil, locked-breech action is paired with an ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety/decocker that uses a red position dot indicator. An exposed spur hammer supports precise thumb-cocking when desired. The pistol is a non-TSW configuration without an accessory rail, aligning with the classic Third-Generation pattern.
Sight picture is provided by iron sights with an adjustable square-notch rear blade and a ramped front blade. Markings include "MOD 4006" on the frame, ".40 S&W" on the barrel hood, and "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A." on the slide, confirming model, caliber, and manufacturer.
