The Lightweight Commander configuration pairs a 4.25" barrel with a compact aluminum-alloy frame and a steel slide, delivering the classic Commander profile in .45 ACP. It is built on the 1911 platform with single-action, short-recoil, locked-breech operation.
Series 80 features include a firing-pin safety in addition to the manual thumb safety and grip safety. This pistol is configured with a short solid trigger and a Commander-style rowel hammer.
The fixed iron sights are set up with a ramped front sight featuring an orange insert and a square-notch rear. The slide wears rear vertical cocking serrations for positive manipulation.
Controls and frame details include an arched, serrated mainspring housing, a GI-style grip safety, and a standard slide stop. Capacity is 7+1 with the included single-stack magazines.
Factory markings are clear and correct: the left slide reads "COLT MK IV / SERIES 80" with the Rampant Colt, the right slide reads "LIGHTWEIGHT COMMANDER MODEL," the right side of the frame is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO.
HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.," and the barrel hood is marked "COLT .45 AUTO." Made in the USA in 1984.
