This Smith & Wesson Model 547 is a limited-production K-frame revolver from the early–mid 1980s, engineered to chamber 9mm Luger without moon clips. It features the patented clipless 9mm extractor system and a 3-inch pinned heavy barrel in a round-butt configuration. Built on the K-frame and chambered in 9mm Luger, the Model 547 was produced in limited numbers and designed to run without moon clips. Its distinctive system uses spring-leaf elements in the extractor, and the barrel is rollmarked with U.S. Patent 4,127,955, a hallmark of this model.
This example is the 3-inch round-butt variant with a pinned heavy barrel. It wears fixed sights consisting of a serrated ramp front and a square-notch rear integral to the topstrap, giving a clean and durable sight picture appropriate to the fixed-sight configuration offered on the 547.
Construction is blued carbon steel throughout, including the cylinder, with case-colored hammer and trigger. The hammer is external and semi-bobbed, and the revolver operates in double-action/single-action. It also features a frame-mounted firing pin with a spring-loaded limit pin, an unshrouded ejector rod with a knurled tip, and a short front locking lug.
Ergonomics and handling are classic K-frame. The round-butt grip frame is fitted with checkered walnut Magna stocks bearing S&W medallions, pairing period-correct wood with the compact 3-inch heavy-barrel profile.
