The Model 22A-1 is a straight-blowback, single-action .22 LR pistol built around a steel bull barrel for stability and a consistent sight picture. Its integral Weaver-style top rail with cross-slots provides a solid mounting surface and comes here with a TRUGLO open reflex red dot already installed.
The frame is aluminum alloy with a matte OD green finish, paired with a camouflage-finished upper and camo two-piece polymer grip panels bearing S&W medallions. Target sights include a fixed Patridge front and a fully adjustable rear, giving precise control over elevation and windage.
Controls and safeties include a manual safety and a magazine disconnect safety. The pistol also features S&W’s tool-less push-button takedown/barrel release ahead of the trigger guard for quick maintenance.
The 22A series was discontinued in 2015. Smith & Wesson issued a limited safety recall for certain pistols manufactured from Aug 1, 2008 to Feb 19, 2009; buyers can verify applicability with the manufacturer. The box label shows 22A, while the on-gun frame marking confirms this pistol as a 22A-1.
