The JAKL uses a buffer-less operating system with a monolithic upper, freeing the design from a receiver extension and enabling its folding, length-adjustable stock. The forward, left-side charging handle provides direct, easy access while keeping the shooting hand in place.
Its long-stroke gas piston system is paired with an adjustable gas regulator, with the control located at the front right of the handguard for quick tuning. The rifle has a threaded barrel capped by a pinned and welded three-prong flash hider for a secure, permanent muzzle device installation.
The monolithic M-LOK handguard features a continuous top Picatinny rail for seamless alignment of the included flip-up sights. Factory-installed M-LOK Picatinny sections at the 6 o'clock position support lights or other accessories. Ergonomics include a Magpul MOE SL pistol grip, a folding FDE polymer stock with length adjustment, and a rubber buttpad, plus a manual safety selector.
The aluminum receiver wears a Flat Dark Earth finish and carries clear markings: "JAKL 5.56 NATO" and "Palmetto State Armory, West Columbia, S.C.," with a stylized jackal logo on the left magwell. AR-15/STANAG magazine compatibility and a 30+1 capacity complete a feature set built in the USA.
