This reproduction stays true to the Sharps New Model 1859/1863 saddle-ring carbine pattern. It uses a percussion, single-shot, vertical sliding falling-block action paired with the Lawrence pellet-priming system, mirroring the operational features of the original service carbines.
The 22 in round blued barrel is secured by a single barrel band and a short fore-end, with iron sights consisting of a front blade and a folding ladder rear sight. This setup reflects the classic carbine sighting arrangement of the period.
Construction details include a color case-hardened steel receiver matched to a blued steel barrel. The walnut stock has a straight grip, a steel carbine buttplate, and a saddle ring, completing the correct carbine configuration. Length of pull measures 14.0 in.
Markings are comprehensive and informative: PEDERSOLI NORFOLK VA. USA importer mark, MADE IN ITALY, Italian Gardone/Brescia proof marks, crowned PN black-powder proof, a boxed Italian date code, and CAT. 1381. The carbine was manufactured in 1980 and is an Italian-made reproduction imported by Pedersoli.
Overall, this Sharps carbine offers authentic features, clear provenance and markings, and strong bore condition in a configuration that reflects its historical counterpart while being Made in Italy.
