The P89 DC uses a short-recoil, DA/SA action with a decocker-only system. The ambidextrous slide-mounted levers safely lower the hammer and return to the fire position; there is no manual safety on DC models. A firing pin block adds passive protection.
The 4.5 in stainless steel barrel features 6-groove, right-hand rifling with a 1:10 twist, supporting dependable accuracy and durability. The bore condition is excellent, with a clean, mirror finish and sharp lands and grooves.
Construction combines a blued steel slide with an investment-cast aluminum-alloy frame wearing a matte black hard-coat finish. Controls include a left-side magazine release, a squared trigger guard, and an exposed spur hammer. Ribbed black polymer grips with Ruger eagle medallions provide a secure, service-ready hold.
Sight regulation is straightforward with fixed 3-dot (white) sights and a windage-adjustable rear. Capacity is 15+1 in 9mm Luger. Dimensions are approximately a 4.5 in barrel, 7.75 in overall length, and an unloaded weight of about 32 oz. A proof/inspection symbol is present on the barrel hood, and the pistol is made in the USA.
