Product Description

    Smith & Wesson Model 547 9mm K-Frame Revolver, 3 Inch Heavy Barrel, Blued, Fixed Sights — Limited-Production 1980s DA/SA

The Smith & Wesson Model 547 is a distinctive K-frame revolver chambered in 9mm Luger, produced in the early–mid 1980s in limited numbers. Its patented spring-finger extractor allows reliable extraction of rimless 9mm cartridges without moon clips, setting it apart from other service revolvers of its era. This example features a 3-inch heavy-profile barrel, blued carbon-steel construction, and classic S&W walnut stocks with medallions.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The finish shows moderate handling wear, and there is light pitting present on the frame. The pitting appears cosmetic. All factory markings remain clear and legible.

    What’s Included

    • Smith & Wesson factory blue cardboard revolver box with 'Revolver' graphics
    • Additional set of Smith & Wesson checkered walnut grip panels with S&W medallions (uninstalled)
    • Smith & Wesson Safety & Instructional Materials booklet

Developed to meet European police requirements, the Model 547 adapts the S&W K-frame to 9mm Luger while retaining traditional revolver handling. Its unique extractor system (U.S. Patent 4,127,955) uses six spring-loaded studs on the extractor star to securely capture and extract rimless cases, eliminating the need for moon clips.

This revolver is built on blued carbon steel with a 3-inch heavy-profile barrel, a six-shot fluted cylinder, and a non-shrouded knurled ejector rod. The action is double-action/single-action, complemented by a smooth-faced trigger and a case-colored hammer that showcase classic S&W service-revolver details.

Sighting is straightforward and durable: a serrated ramp front pairs with a fixed rear notch cut into the topstrap. The round-butt frame wears checkered walnut stocks with S&W medallions, providing a secure, traditional grip profile well-suited to the 3-inch K-frame format.

Production ran only in the early–mid 1980s, with about 10,270 units made before the model was discontinued by 1985. That limited run, combined with the patented moon-clip-less 9mm extraction system, makes the Model 547 a notable entry in S&W’s service-revolver history.
