The USP Expert configuration pairs a long, Expert-length slide with a 5.2 in barrel that is cold hammer-forged and fitted with an O-ring at the muzzle. The barrel uses polygonal rifling, and the slide wears HK's Hostile Environment nitro-carburized finish. The frame is polymer with textured grip panels molded with "USP" and a full-length dustcover.
Controls include DA/SA operation, a frame-mounted manual safety, and an ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release. The trigger is HK's match unit with an adjustable over-travel stop. The extractor functions as a tactile and visual loaded-chamber indicator.
