The Springfield Armory Hellion is a 5.56mm NATO, semi-automatic bullpup built around a 16 in cold hammer-forged CMV steel barrel with a corrosion-resistant treatment and a threaded muzzle. A civilian derivative of the Croatian VHS-2, it features a reversible ejection system, ambidextrous controls, and a two-position adjustable gas regulator. This example remains in excellent overall condition with a clean, mirror-bright bore.

The Hellion retains the compact bullpup layout while maintaining a 16 in barrel, delivering overall length of approximately 28.25–29.75 in for the 16 in model. Length of pull is user-adjustable from approximately 16.25–18 in, and weight is about 8.0 lb. The stock integrates multiple QD sling sockets and an adjustable cheek riser to fine-tune fit.
Its short-stroke gas piston system includes a two-setting adjustable regulator for reliable operation, and the reversible ejection system allows the user to configure case ejection to either side. Controls are well-appointed, including an ambidextrous magazine release and a folding charging handle.
A full-length numbered Picatinny top rail/carry-handle incorporates flip-up iron sights with a front post and rear aperture. The polymer M-LOK fore-end provides mounting slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. The threaded muzzle comes fitted with a birdcage flash suppressor.
Construction pairs a steel receiver with a durable polymer frame and stock. Markings include the Hellion model name with trident logo and the Springfield Armory crossed-cannons crest. Proof and import markings read "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY – GENESEO, IL" and "HS PRODUKT – MADE IN CROATIA." The rifle accepts standard STANAG/AR-15 magazines and ships with a 30-round Magpul PMAG GEN M3.
